Glitter, glitter, bling, bling!

It was all glitter and a lot of bling on Thursday night at the Gitanjali Lifestyle event, which inaugurated the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) 2008 in Mumbai.
After all, it’s not everyday that you get to see Bollywood beauties Bipasha Basu, Perizaad Zorabian, Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy scorch the ramp, together. Add to that a fresh Shazahn Padamsee doing the catwalk too – sizzling in royal gowns, haute dresses and bejewelled sarees, and shining in jewellery.
The evening, hosted by Mehul Choksi of Gitanjali, opened with Shantanu-Nikhil’s vibrant creations. The next round celebrated Neeta Lulla’s Jodhaa Akbar collection, with Mugdha Godse and Sahil Shroff dressed as the warrior prince and his princess. Models then walked the ramp in Archana Kochchar’s designs, and last, but definitely not the least, was the grand finale by Vikram Phadnis.
The designers were different, their creations unique, but the one common factor during the show was the jewellery. The brands showcased (and adorned by our Bollywood bombshells who are the faces of the various brands) included Asmi, Diva, Sangini, Nakshatra, Glitterati, D’damas, Gold Expression and Gili.
The cherry on the cake was the special announcement that Bipasha is the new Gili brand ambassador. Yes, it was all there at this glitter-packed evening — the glitz, the glamour, the grandeur.
